Something new for Worku: Theme of the Week

Posted on August 24, 2026August 24, 2026

For the next six weeks, we’re going to try a little experiment.

Every Monday I’ll post a theme to play with alongside our usual daily Wordle restraint words.

The theme is not another restraint word. You don’t need to use the theme word in your poem. Instead, let its meaning, idea, or feeling shape the Worku you write. It is optional, not mandatory!

Your Wordle restraint words still provide the words. The weekly theme provides the direction.

Use the theme every day, use it once, or let the restraint words take you somewhere else. It’s an invitation, not another rule.

Our first theme is:

Impermanence

Something changes. Something passes. Something disappears or becomes something else.

A season ends. A flower wilts. Coffee gets cold. Someone leaves. Something arrives.

You don’t have to write “impermanence.” Write something impermanent.

what it is

  • worku is a daily practice where your wordle guesses become a haiku
  • use your guesses in the same order you played them
  • aim for imagery and flavor over perfect grammar
  • add a touch of nature, humor, or irony

“Worku is good for saying what you are thinking, which is why I have so many about cheese. Nice finding a place.” — Mark
