POUCH gave this group a lot of range, from money and snacks to mail, treats, and a squirrel’s cheek. The word worked best when it felt completely at home in the scene rather than simply serving as the required ending.
Two especially lovely haiku stand out. auntie jj gives us a full autumn world—oak grove, pond, jays, acorns—then narrows the view to a squirrel stuffing its cheek pouch. Mark does something quieter: morning light, a shady bench, treats in a pouch, then “Heaven.” Both poems trust small, concrete details to carry the feeling.
