words from wordle 1,965

PARCH pulled this group toward dryness in several senses: literal drought, emotional depletion, boredom, desiccated landscapes, and even dried-out hope. Robo and auntie jj stay closest to the physical world, with mirage, desert, and lunar barrenness doing much of the work, while Mark’s first poem strips the word down into a stark emotional condition.

The strongest poems made PARCH feel like a process rather than just a description. auntie jj’s landscape dries all the way into the bones; Mark’s hopes themselves seem to lose moisture and life; Robo lets relentless dryness end in another false promise of water. Those uses gave the word real consequence.

Robo 2/6
No TRACE of water
Continued PARCH relentless
Mirage fools again

Jonesy 5/6
To AMUSE thyself
a BLOAT, DAILY, of GANJA.
The PARCH of doldrums.

Diana Marie 3/6
SPURN butcher’s advance…
Cuts of meat no longer PRIME
PARCH and feed to dog

auntie jj 3/6
desert vista STARK
akin to LUNAR landscape
terrain to PARCH bones

Lari 4/6
The GREAT ACORN save!
Squirrels carry RACKS of nuts
In the sun to PARCH.

Mark 3/6
Poem 1
SHAPE shrivels
PATCH fails
Hopes PARCH

Poem 2
First SHAPE the landscape
PATCH up the soul sucking leaks
Always PARCH the doubts

B-lu 4/6
Trek to the OCEAN
to CATCH a wave and some sun
MARCH is sure to PARCH

Mick 3/6
Poem 1
BRACE for the blue wave
drowning gasps at the red RANCH —
PARCH the hegemony

Poem 2
neck BRACE
RANCH brouhaha
PARCH fun

what it is

  • worku is a daily practice where your wordle guesses become a haiku
  • use your guesses in the same order you played them
  • aim for imagery and flavor over perfect grammar
  • add a touch of nature, humor, or irony

“Worku is good for saying what you are thinking, which is why I have so many about cheese. Nice finding a place.” — Mark
