words from wordle 1,946

GAFFE naturally pulled this group toward mistakes, embarrassment, and comic misjudgment, but the poems found several different ways to get there. Robo makes the mistake sartorial, auntie jj turns a disastrous costume into the whole joke, and Diana leaves enough unexplained around one questionable situation to let the reader imagine exactly what kind of gaffe has occurred. Jonesy takes the word into political satire, while Mark treats the mistake itself as entertainment.

The stronger poems let GAFFE emerge from a scene rather than simply labeling an error. Sometimes the mistake is public, sometimes personal, and sometimes already on its way toward forgiveness.

Jonesy 4/6
MONEY drives the vote.
Such WASTE and a Grimm FABLE.
Political GAFFE.

Robo 5/6
The STYLE was all wrong
No PEACE on the fashion RANGE
The GAUZE was the GAFFE

Diana Marie 4/6
WHILE PRONE under Bob
Reflect on my present STATE…
GAUGE this latest GAFFE

Mark 4/6
A LIGHT GROUP assembles
Let the GAMES begin, “first up”
A GAFFE for a laugh

auntie jj 5/6
CLASH at trick or TREAT
fur suit had MANGE; VAGUE dog mask
costume a real GAFFE

Mick 5/6
DRAIN the tart mai tai
ALOHA last MAUVE BASTE sky —
GAFFE now forgiven

what it is

  • worku is a daily practice where your wordle guesses become a haiku
  • use your guesses in the same order you played them
  • aim for imagery and flavor over perfect grammar
  • add a touch of nature, humor, or irony

“Worku is good for saying what you are thinking, which is why I have so many about cheese. Nice finding a place.” — Mark
