words from wordle 1,948

STINK could easily have produced nothing but gross-out jokes, but this group found quite a few different uses for it. Jonesy embraces the filth and somehow turns dumpster stink into appetite, Mark makes odor one of two unpleasant outcomes in a tense little standoff, and Diana uses it both as a mundane discovery in a brother’s closet and as a wonderfully blunt standard for art criticism.

Elsewhere, STINK becomes memory, mold, victory, mystery, and even something capable of remorse. The stronger pieces gave the smell a job beyond merely being unpleasant: it revealed something, changed the meaning of the scene, or became the punch line the earlier constraints had been steering toward.

Jonesy 5/6
I grab LUNCH OFTEN
from the dumpster at SAINT Luke’s.
Relish STING of STINK!

Diana Marie 3/6
Poem 1
Brother out of RANGE
SNOOP through his drawers and closet
Just the STINK of socks

Poem 2
CHORE of the critic…
Abstract: BUSTY nude holds STALK
Art that doesn’t STINK?

Debbie Wilson 3/6
What does FLOAT in pool?!
THUMP the kid that left it there
STINK I won’t forget

Robo 5/6
Oh the CHASE will SPOIL
SWIFT STING of black scorpion
Sweet STINK of success

Mark 5/6
RAISE up, no SWIFT moves
Sit perfectly STILL, don’t blink
Options…. STING or STINK

Lari 4/6
In COVER of NIGHT
one QUINT left her bed to see
From where was that STINK!

auntie jj 4/6
I CRAVE trip to GUILD
rooms were MOIST, artworks exposed
STINK of mold prevailed

Mick 3/6
Poem 1
golden mermaid’s PURSE,
found and SHOWN a lively pup —
no STINK among sharks

Poem 2
the dark, foul PURSE hung,
SHOWN on his shoulder, dripping —
a remorseful STINK

what it is

  • worku is a daily practice where your wordle guesses become a haiku
  • use your guesses in the same order you played them
  • aim for imagery and flavor over perfect grammar
  • add a touch of nature, humor, or irony

“Worku is good for saying what you are thinking, which is why I have so many about cheese. Nice finding a place.” — Mark
