STREW proved unusually adaptable: things, words, notes, order, even human mess could all be scattered. auntie jj gets the cleanest comic turn when a gust of wind undoes a perfectly efficient haiku, while Debbie keeps the scattering inside the writing process itself, with ink and words spreading across the page. Jonesy takes the round in a more philosophical direction, trying to make FAITH, TRUST, STORY, and philosophy inhabit the same small space.
These were not especially cooperative constraint sets, and that made coherence a large part of the accomplishment. The stronger poems found something concrete to scatter—or gave STREW a clear metaphorical job—so the final word felt like a consequence of the poem rather than simply the place where the constraints ran out.
